50th YMCA Joins Groundbreaking Partnership Extending “Y Wellness 24/7” Online and On-Demand Classes to Tens of Thousands throughout the Northeast

Since reopening our facilities in June 2020, we have followed both CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines related to COVID-19 safety mitigation protocols. We thank you for your support throughout this time. Recently, Pennsylvania Department of Health made the following announcement: Effective Monday, June 28, 2021 per Pennsylvania Department of Health:

The YMCA has a deep, rich history with the African American community. The first YMCA for African Americans was founded in 1853 in Washington, D.C. by formerly enslaved Anthony Bowen. And in the following decade, Black YMCAs arose in New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. As a result, the national office of YMCAs created a department to oversee Black YMCAs.

While sitting in the Doylestown Hospital infusion center for cancer treatments in 2018, Larry saw a brochure about THRIVE, YMCA of Bucks County’s cancer wellness program. He participated in the program with a small group of cancer survivors while undergoing his treatments and continues his health and wellness journey as a Y member in the Lap Pool and Wellness Center.
